Illidan Stormrage Defeated

The Flying Hellfish completed The Burning Crusade and The Black Temple by defeating Illidan Stormrage (08/05/07).

We were the 14th U.S. guild and the 5th U.S. Horde guild to accomplish this feat.

Congratulations to everyone in The Flying Hellfish, and thanks to everyone involved in this kill and to all of those who were involved in helping us reach this point. Almost a third of our raid crew remains unchanged from our very first raid when we killed Lucifron, and we have a even more seasoned veterans still going strong. For the first time in well over a year, we are in a farming mode again, and are looking forward to taking it easy until the next raid content is released. It is always a proud moment to be a part of killing the end-boss for each era of the game, and we're looking forward to having continued success and fun in the future.

Archimonde is Defeated

The Flying Hellfish completed Mount Hyjal by defeating Archimonde (07/09/07). Since our last update we have defeated: Rage Winterchill, Anatheron, Kaz'rogal, Az'galor, Archimonde, High Warlord Na'jentus, Supremus, Shade of Akama, Teron Gorefiend, and Gurtogg Bloodboil.

Archimonde is a rather frustrating fight, with many random variables. Essentially if he wants to wipe your raid, he will. Beyond that, the fight actually does require a significant amount of individual execution, and the Hellfish stepped up very well there. Mount Hyjal was an interesting experience overall. It still needs a lot of tuning to become "perfect" and more entertaining. Since the latest patch, we relearned and rekilled the "new" archimonde, and will soon be making the final push in Black Temple. Our next update will be when Illidan goes down!

Kael'Thas Sunstrider Defeated

The Flying Hellfish defeated Kael'Thas recently (06/06/2007) unlocking access to Mount Hyjal.

Kael'Thas is one of the more difficult encounters in WoW raiding. However, after learning all the intricacies of strategy, formulating a solid plan, and acclimating to the chaos, the fight becomes relatively straightforward and repeatable. For The Flying Hellfish, this kill marks the end of a chapter on the initial raid zones available at The Burning Crusade launch: Tempest Keep, and Serpentshrine Cavern. We have now moved into Mount Hyjal, and will soon be visiting The Black Temple where Illidan resides.

Lady Vashj Defeated

It has been a long time since I have updated the Flying Hellfish's front page. Last update included downing Kel'Thuzad, and ever since then, none of the trivial kills in Burning Crusade felt worthy of a front page update. However, with the advent of the 2.1 patch, there has been a lot of end-game boss tuning, and subsequently some new kills that are worthy of an update.

Our first major kill in 2.1 was Lady Vashj. After one and a half nights of attempts, Lady Vashj went down comfortably to The Flying Hellfish's new 25 man raid crew (05/26/07). This was one of the first fights since the new expansion to really involve all of the players in complex motion and execution.

Later that night, we went to try out Al'ar, our last boss in Tempest keep before Kael'Thas. After a couple hours of attempts, Al'ar went down as well (05/26/07).

Al'ar Dies

The only kill left for us before Mount Hyjal is Kael'thas. We'll update again when we finally drop him, but he is already looking to be a very fun encounter.

In the meantime, our members have been enjoying a lot of the new content in 2.1, and some of us have been farming just a little bit too much. Raldez obtained the first netherdrake on the server, shortly before going insane in real life from the absurd amount of farming required.
